Plymovent PHV Portable Welding Fume Extractor

    Prices From £1641.74 ex VAT

The PHV is a portable high vacuum welding fume extractor. It is equipped with two motors and an automatic start/stop device. The extracted welding fume first passes a metal pre-separator and then goes through the Dura-H main filter with integrated aluminium pre filter. The air leaves the unit through a HEPA filter. An activated carbon filter can be installed as an option.

With its wheels, the handle and its compact design the machine is extremely suited to be used in relatively small workshops, in confined spaces or near sources of pollution without a fixed location. The PHV can be switched on/off manually or automatically.

The B(G)IA-W3 certified PHV-I version is additionally provided with a filter pollution indicator and sound signal.

The PHV is supplied standard with:

    • Dura-H 12m² filter
    • HEPA filter
    • Aluminium filter
    • Automatic Start/Stop
    • Set of wheels
    • 2.5m extraction hose
    • 2 sets carbon brushes

    Plymovent Mobile Fume Extractors FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using mobile welding fume extractors.

What is a mobile fume extractor and when should I use one?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A mobile fume extractor is a self-contained wheeled unit with a fan and filter, normally used with a flexible extraction arm or a hose. It captures welding fume at the source, filters it and returns clean air to the workshop.

It suits site work, repair and maintenance, small batches, confined spaces and any place where a fixed system is not practical. It can be moved to wherever the welding is happening.

How is a mobile unit different from a stationary one?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A mobile unit is built to be moved, so it is more compact and generally handles one or two extraction points. A stationary unit is fixed in place and is better suited to continuous production, several arms or a central system.

If the welding is always in the same place and runs for long periods, a stationary unit may be the better choice. For varied locations, a mobile one is more flexible.

Do I need an extraction arm, and how does it affect performance?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Extraction only works if the capture point is close to the weld, so check what is included with any unit and whether an arm or hose and hood are needed. The hood should be as close to the arc as practical, positioned so the fume rises towards it.

A hood held too far away captures little. Longer arms, hoses and bends add resistance and reduce the airflow at the hood, so choose a length that fits the job. The manual for your unit will give the recommended hood position and arm length.

How do I know if a unit has enough airflow for my work?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Compare the unit's rated airflow with the demands of the process and the arm or hose fitted. Higher-current processes and flux-cored wires generate more fume than light TIG work. Airflow at the hood, not just at the fan, is what matters.

The manufacturer's guidance and the risk assessment should set the requirement. If you are unsure, ask our team or have an LEV specialist assess it.
