    MobileOne Spare Parts FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when finding and fitting spare parts for a mobile fume filter unit.

What type of filter cartridge should I choose?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Choose the cartridge made for your unit, in the correct size. Some cartridges are anti-static, which is helpful where static charge could build up in the filter, and the filter material should suit the dust or fume you are collecting.

Do not fit a cartridge that is only roughly similar, because a poor seal lets unfiltered fume pass through. Check the type against the unit's manual or data plate.

Is changing a filter cartridge a hazardous job?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It can be. The dust collected in the unit may contain harmful substances, depending on the material you weld or cut, and some of those are serious health hazards. Wear suitable protective clothing and respiratory protection, as set out in your risk assessment.

Isolate the unit first, avoid shaking or knocking the used cartridge, and bag it for disposal in line with waste rules. Clean up any spilled dust with a suitable industrial vacuum, not by sweeping.

What does the pressure switch do?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

The pressure switch measures the resistance to airflow through the filter. As the cartridge loads with dust, the pressure difference rises, and the switch can trigger a cleaning cycle or a warning that the filter is clogged.

If it fails or drifts, you may see false alarms, constant cleaning cycles or no warning at all. Replace it with the correct type and setting for your unit, and have it fitted and checked by a competent person.

Can I replace electrical parts like fuses, relays and the motor myself?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Electrical work must only be done by a competent person, with the unit isolated from the mains and the plug removed or locked off. Fuses must be replaced with ones of the same rating and type, never a higher one.

Motors, relays, transformers and circuit boards need the right specification for the unit, including the voltage and phase. If you are not qualified, use a qualified electrician or service engineer.
