PlymoVent’s new KUA on the extraction rail is a unique product combination, where the most flexible extractor arm on the market has been mounted on a carriage, that allows it to run along an extraction rail. The KUA-arm itself is technically, economically and aesthetically the perfect solution for small and medium sized work places. Together with the extraction rail, the KUA-arm is not only the most flexible extractor on the market for fume, gases, but it also has a reach that is only limited by the length of the rail. Ideal where no permanent work places exist or for extended work areas.

    Plymovent Extraction Arm Accessories FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing accessories for fume extraction arms.

How do I know an accessory is compatible with my arm?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Check the arm's model and size on its data plate, then compare it with what the accessory states it fits. Duct diameter, mounting type and electrical supply all matter, and similar-looking items are often made for different arm families.

If the accessory lists compatible arms, make sure yours is on the list. If you are unsure, send our team the model details and photographs.

What is the point of an automatic start and stop switch?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

An automatic switch starts the fan when the arm is moved into position or when light from the weld is detected, and stops it again when the work finishes. This saves energy and noise because the fan is not running while nobody is welding.

For best results, the sensor needs to be positioned and set up as the instructions describe, otherwise it may start late or stop while welding continues.

Do I need a working light on my extraction arm?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A light is not essential, but it is a real help when preparing a weld and when working inside fixtures or under hoods, because it lights the area you are extracting from. It is common on arms used for grinding, fitting and inspection.

Lights must be rated for the voltage supplied and are often low voltage with a transformer. Replace failed lamps with the specified type.

What does a shut-off damper do on an extraction arm?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A damper is an adjustable flap in the duct. Closing it can stop air being drawn through an arm that is not in use. Some designs can also be set partly closed to help share airflow between arms on one fan.

Whether this is suitable depends on the system, so follow the maker's instructions for your own arms and fan. Make sure the damper suits the duct diameter, moves freely, and that airflow at the hood is still adequate after any change.
