Plymovent Control Unit M-1000 controls the central fan in systems with up to 10 extractors. Must be used in conjunction with Plymovent Energy Savers or Automatic Dampers. An intelligent device that saves a lot of energy.

As soon as someone starts welding an impulse is passed from the Energy Saver or Automatic Damper to the M-1000, which in turn starts the central fan. When the last person stops welding the M-1000 automatically stops the central fan. There is an adjustable over-run facility between 7 seconds and 6 minutes to remove all residual after-fume from the system.

As the central fan only runs when welding is taking place, you save energy and reduce running costs. Added to this, is the low cost! M-1000 is very simple to install. Making it even more economical.

    Plymovent Control Equipment FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about controls for welding fume extraction systems.

What does fume extraction control equipment actually do?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Control equipment switches extraction fans and dampers on and off, and can adjust the airflow to match what is happening in the workshop. Instead of a fan running at full power all day, it runs only when and where extraction is needed.

This cuts wasted energy, reduces noise and wear, and keeps heated air in the building rather than blowing it outside. It ranges from simple manual switches to fully automatic systems.

How does a system start when I begin welding?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

There are several methods. Some systems detect that an extraction arm has been pulled out or a damper opened. Others use a sensor linked to the welding machine, or a switch on the arm, torch or hood.

Which is suitable depends on the extraction layout and the work. Check that the control method fits your equipment and that the system starts reliably before the fume is produced.

Can I run several extraction points from one fan?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes, in a central system, dampers open and close so air goes only to the points in use. A control unit manages the dampers and the fan speed or switching so the airflow stays suitable.

The duct design, fan size and controls all have to be matched. An incorrect design can leave some points with weak airflow, so involve a competent installer for the layout.

Do I need a different control box for different voltages and phases?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes. Control equipment is built for specific supply voltages and for single-phase or three-phase supply, and for a range of motor sizes. Using the wrong one can damage the equipment or be unsafe.

Check the data plate on your fan motor, the supply at the site and the ratings of the control box. If you are unsure, have an electrician or the supplier confirm compatibility before you buy.
